Barbara Peavey, a self-taught artist, captures the beauty of flowers in their natural settings through oil painting.
She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Massachusetts in 1964. After raising her children, she devoted more time to painting. An invitation to show her work on Nantucket Island prompted her to paint many beautiful paintings.
The subject matter of her work continues to focus primarily on flowers and other beauties of God's creation.

Artist’s Statement
The beauty of nature is exciting, particularly when flowers are a part of it. What draws me to a particular subject varies; the drama of light and color are foremost. Flowers growing near the ocean or in a field are most beautiful. Images I have created on canvas give me great joy and satisfaction.
